6630 wallpaper bug

Post 6630 wallpaper bug
Hi Guys,
I got my 6630 on monday, very happy with the phone, but I have found a bug.

If you are a wallpaper addict and constantly keep changing between them, then this might interest you.

SETUP 1
* Select a theme.
* open gallery and choose any wallpaper (176 x 144)
* Set as wallpaper

PROBLEM
you will see that the wallpaper on the desktop is blurry. This blurriness is cased due to the 6630 not converting the JPB / BMP to MBM file in the correct size.

Blurry Desktop Wallpaper

The converter WILL ONLY convert to 174 x 144 or less. This means you get a nasty 1 pixel bkgrnd on either side of the wallpaper

OR if your wallpaper is the correct size (176 x 144), the gallery converter will try to shrink the file to 174 x 144. This results in the image being blurry.

TEMP SOLUTION
1a) If you have a 6600, open your wallpaper in gallery.

1b) Options --> set as wallpaper

2) Use FE Explorer and navigate to c:/system/data

3) Bluetooth the backgroundimage.mbm from your 6600 to your 6630

4) On your 6630. open the backgroundimage.mbm (in your sms inbox)

5) save the file to C:

6) using FE Explorer, cut the backgroundimage.mbm from c:/nokia/images

7) navigate to c:/system/data and paste the backgroundimage.mbm (from 6600 )

8 ) it was your to overwrite, press yes.

restart and you are done.

=======

SETUP 2
* Select a theme.

* click "options --> edit"

* choose any wallpaper (176 x 144)

PROBLEM
as above

TEMP SOLUTION
1a) If you have a 6600, open your wallpaper in gallery.

1b) Options --> set as wallpaper

2) Use FE Explorer and navigate to c:/system/data

3) Bluetooth the backgroundimage.mbm from your 6600 to your 6630

4) On your 6630. open the backgroundimage.mbm (in your sms inbox)

5) save the file to C:

6) using FE Explorer, cut the backgroundimage.mbm from c:/nokia/images

7) navigate to the drive (c: or e: ) where you have the theme installed

8a) find the theme folder

8b) inside the theme folder you will see a folder called CustomBgImgIdle

9) paste the backgroundimage.mbm (from 6600 ) in this folder

10) delete the current Wallpaper.mbm file

11) rename backgroundimage.mbm to Wallpaper.mbm

restart and you are done.

Thanks
Dakku

In case of not having a 6600, how can I solve this problem? I have a only 6630, so I can't get a 6600's backgroundimage.mbm. Actually Nokia 6600 is not available in Japanese market.

Thanks in advance.

you can use MBM convert application to make MBM files from JPG, BMP etc. Do a google for the app.

haha
see i told u that a 6600 can fix the problem...

but for those who do not own both a 6600 and a 6630, u need unmake sis and mbm wizard, and slap on the wallpaper to an existing theme that way

Hi there,

I'm experiencing a similar problem with my 6680. Firstly, I don't know what the correct pixel aspect should be (as it's a higher resolution to the 6630) but an hour of painstakingly resizing an image a pixel at a time has left me stumped - it's always blurred!

This article is the closest I've come to fixing the problem, but I still need to know the correct resolution for a 6680 wallpaper.

Any suggestions?

As far as I am aware, all series 6 use the same size, ie: 174x144. with the recent new phones it appears that the firmware is buggy and does not resize the wallapers correctly.

The alternative is to resize your image to 172 x 144, this would leave a 1 pixel gap on either side BUT you will get a sharp result.

Alternative is to convert your JPG file to MBM (metod above) and copy it to your 6680.

You can try this file as a test:

http://www.dakkustudios.co.uk/forum/download.php?id=33

unzip it and copy to your:
c:/system/data

Before you place it in the folder, just open any file in gallery and set that as your wallpaper, now there will already be a backgroundimage.mbm file in the above folcer, just delete that and replace it with the attached file.

let us know if you still have problems.

Cheers
DK

Just to say the 6260 can also process the file correctly.

The app is free and can be found at www.todayon3g.co.uk in the downloads section and it may be called 6630bug.sis or SfondiX.
Happy Days.
